Globe Telecom announced the commercial availability of its Globe WiMax (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) service that will initially be available in South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

A.Providers like Globe Telecom, which already has existing fixed lines in Metro Manila, will logically want to expand their network so it’s only logical their WiMax network will be offered to places where they don’t have lines (DSL) yet. WiMAX uses the IEEE 802.16e standard and currently has a maximum bandwidth speed of up to 60 mbps. Subscribers of the Globe WiMAX service would get a maximum bandwidth of up to 512 kps at 795 pesos per month.
